MLA edition of a book citation

As with any publishing style, the most difficult aspect of MLA Style to master are the requirements for citing secondary sources accurately such as review of a poem or individual author or company tweet. However, while gathering book sources, to create the citation within citation generator be sure to make note of the following bibliographic items:

  • author name(s),
  • the title,
  • publication date,
  • publisher, place of publication,
  • the medium of publication for all “hard copy” books as a must.

For more information regarding particular source you may consult the MLA guidelines.  Books may be republished due to popularity without becoming a new edition. New editions are typically revisions of the original work. For books that originally appeared at an earlier date and that have been republished at a later one, insert the original publication date before the publication information. For books that are new editions (i.e. different from the first or other editions of the book) MLA citation generator required edition information:

  • for an edition other than the first, include the number of the edition,
  • digits are used to indicate the edition number,
  • if this book is a republished edition, the original year of publication is included.

In case of citing a reprinted edition, such as a paperback book that was originally published as a hardcover edition, you should indicate this in your citation. In MLA style generator required to give the original date of publication after the title of the book, and the publication date of the edition cited have to be indicated straight after the publisher’s name.
